Horse of the Night

SPORTSMUFFLER (6TH) : Talented three-year-old finds a very soft spot here tonight and she appears to be much the best among this group. She has raced well in her first two starts of the season chasing home the top fillies in this division. With this being her third start back after the layoff she figures to be primed and ready to go. The De Long trained miss has been on the board in all 13 lifetime starts and it looks like she’ll be putting another notch in the win column here.

Tonight's Long Shots

Keep an Eye On These

CRIME OF PASSION (7TH) : Speedball drops to the bottom of the conditioned ladder tonight and he draws well. Look for him to grab command and never look back against this group.
MUY CALIENTE (10TH) : Beaten favorite dropped a heartbreaker after carving out all the splits in her last. It looks like she’ll be in command once again and if she can catch a breather somewhere along the way she’ll be tough to collar.
MAKENA CAT (11TH) : Flattened out late after a tough first over trip against a standout winner in her last. She may have to “rough” it again but she’ll find this group to her liking so I’ll give her another shot.

Backstretch Info

ANNETTE’S Z TAM (12TH) : Up close early in her last but she wound up getting pushed back before finally moving very wide on the final turn to wind up with a third place finish. She was a front stepping winner in her two previous starts and with the inside post tonight I’m guessing she’ll go back to employing those type of tactics again. It looks like she should be in control of things and as long she can relax on the front end she should have enough left at the end to hold off this group.

Press box picks will be posted at least 24 hours prior to race date.
