Horse of the Night

STEPH’S PLACE (8TH) : Mare has won four of five this year and five of her last six dating back to last season. Her game is speed so this spot in the 2nd tier could be a problem but I believe she’ll be headed for the front as soon as she gets clear sailing. She’s a nine-time winner over the past two seasons and she’ll have the services of our leading driver here. Couple that with the fact she’s never been sharper and she’s right back at the same level and it all adds up to another victory.

Tonight's Long Shots

Keep an Eye On These

DESI DUNE (3RD) : Starts in the second tier but there’s a speed horse that should lead her out of there in good shape. She dropped a heartbreaker last week but should be able to make amends tonight.
I DON’T REMBER (4TH) : Finds a very soft spot after dropping a tough photo in her last start. She also gets big time post relief here and that should provide her with the striking position she needs to get the job done.
SPEED MINISTER (9TH) : Circled the field in his last only to get nipped in the final strides. He’s racing very well right now and even with this outside draw he figures to be a major player as long as he can find cover to get him into position.

Backstretch Info

WHO CALLED KELLIE (5TH) : Stormed to the front and made every call a winning one in a four-length romp last time out. He lucks right back into the same conditions tonight and actually most of his rivals in here come out of that same race so there’s no reason to try and go against him here. He has flashed good speed in all three starts this year so I would expect to see him headed for the front again. The barn has been on fire with 9 wins in 22 starts and I expect that hot streak to continue with this gelding.

Press box picks will be posted at least 24 hours prior to race date.
