Horse of the Night

ODDS ON DOMINICA (2ND) : Beaten favorite turned in a solid effort from the eight-hole last week but she was forced to settle for the bridesmaid role after being parked every step of the mile. She gets a big post shift tonight and that will allow her to put her fine gate speed to use. She should have no trouble grabbing command right from the word go and I would expect her to be in command of the proceedings every step of the way this evening.

Keep an Eye On These

TOPVILLE BRIDGET (5TH) : Ran up against a tough winner last time out and was forced to settle for the show dough that night. She figures to be in line for a perfect inside trip again and that will give her a big shot to pick up an overdue victory.
SHEZ SWIFT (6TH) : Beaten favorite uncorked a big closing burst to just miss in her last start. That was a solid effort in defeat and as long as she can shake loose at the right time she should be able to blow right by these in the late going.
GREG AND FLEX (7TH) : Came up short while carrying the public’s purse in his last start. He had won his two previous efforts in stretch rushing fashion and if he can pick up some live cover to get him into contention he could return to his winning ways.

Backstretch Info

COTTONLAND GEM (8TH) : Speedball elected to sit in a “hole” last week after showing good early speed away from the gate. I think he’s a better horse when he’s in control of things and that is where I expect him to be situated tonight. There is not much speed to his inside so he should be able to get to the top without working too hard this evening. If he can catch a breather somewhere along the way he should have enough left to hold off this group for the victory.

Press box picks will be posted at least 24 hours prior to race date.
